PORTRAIT PROCESS
Welcome to the presentation of fine art portraits by artist Daune Sheri. The array of work features highly realistic portraits based on the recognition of the artist’s emotive realism in portraiture.
Portraits can be custom created from photographs sent as reference. By contracting Daune to do this artwork, a detailed realistic interpretation can be captured of a moment in time, personal only to “you”.
All portraits are done by hand through the use of traditional medium such as graphite pencil, colored pencil, pastel and pen and ink. The artist creates work and accepts work by commission to portray realistic sensitivity with her main focus being child portraits and pet portraits.
Each medium lend a crisp clear representation of its subject. Graphite pencil and colored pencil deliver a detailed delicate effect, pastel delivers a soft-focus effect, while pen and ink delivers a sharp bold effect. All allow for precise detail and offer honest likeness to their subject.
A member of the International Guild of Realism, the Colored Pencil Society of America, the Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists and the Northeastern Connecticut Art Guild, Daune Sheri perfects realism in fine art portraiture. Her artwork is unique in that it may represent either classic or contemporary design.
Only professional quality art supplies are used by the artist to create these portraits. Fine art papers are chosen by weight and by finish. The particular papers used are pH neutral (acid-free), hot press at 140lb weight. Both graphite and colored pencils are selected for gradient texture, fine detail and rich saturation. Graphite is selected in a full range of densities and wax color is selected in a full range of pigments. Pastels are chosen in a broad spectrum of rich creamy pigments that allow for smooth blending and shading. Inks specially formulated to be waterproof, permanent, fadeless and acid-free are used with professional quality technical pens to create intricate detail and bold interpretation.
Certain featured portraits online are part of a private collection and may be available as originals or in museum quality giclee fine art prints.
As a commissioned piece, the artist creates child portraits and pet portraits with the use of photographs you send as a reference. These photographs should be chosen carefully, with the understanding that the detail and quality of the artwork is largely dependant on the quality of the photographs sent. Please view Photography Tips.
Commissions are completed in the order they are received. Completion of your portrait is dependent upon how many orders are in process at the time, and the extent of detail of your specific piece. Typically completion time takes approximately 20 to 28 hours and will be shipped within 3 to 4 weeks of the order.
