PORTRAIT PROCESS
Welcome to Daune Sheri Art Studio, featuring realistic portraits by the artist Daune Sheri, recognized for her emotive realism in portraiture. Through the use of traditional medium such as graphite pencil or pen and ink, the artist accepts work by commission to create emotion-evoking realism with her main focus being child portraits, pet portraits and architectural portraits. Either medium lend a crisp clear representation of its subject. Graphite pencil delivers a soft delicate view, while pen and ink delivers a sharp bold view. Both allow for precise detail and offer honest likeness to their subject. A member of the International Guild of Realism, the Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists and the Northeastern Connecticut Art Guild, Daune Sheri perfects realism in black and white art. Black and white art is unique in that it may represent either classic or contemporary design.
Only professional quality art supplies are used by the studio to create these portraits. The artist selects fine art papers by finish and by weight. They are mouldmade in France, with 100% cotton fiber content, pH neutral (acid free), gelatin-sized and air-dried. A paper chosen with a smoother finish, such as hot press, at 140lb weight is desirable for pencil and ink portraits. Graphite portraits are created with the smooth flow of fine graphite in a full range of densities made from the finest quality graphite and purest clays. Dependability and high performance make technical pens the first choice for the artist in the creating of pen and ink portraits. Professional quality india inks are used, specially formulated to be waterproof, permanent, fadeless and acid-free.
The artist creates child portraits, pet portraits and architectural portraits with the use of photographs you send as a reference. These photographs should be chosen carefully, with the understanding that the detail and quality of the artwork is largely dependent on the quality of the photographs sent. Please view Photography Tips.
Commissions are completed in the order they are received. Completion of your portrait is dependent upon how many orders are in process at the time, and the extent of detail of your specific piece. Typically completion time takes approximately 20 hours and will be shipped within 3 to 4 weeks of the order.
